CURRENT PROJECTS
This series of works was exhibited in early 2026 as part of ‘Radical Futures: Unearthed’ at
the Cannery Arts Centre and part of the Regional Arts Triennial 3 - thanks to Regional Arts
WA and Southern Forest Arts. Elaine invites us to reflect on survival, sustenance, and how
we prepare for an uncertain world, given the fear that surrounds such activities.
Elaine considers the idea of “bug-out plans” - and what we might need to endure life in the
bush, without many of our modern comforts. Her painted lakes, rich with vintage tones and
aerial views, offer a counterpoint to fear: amplifying the land's abundance, water as divine
life-force, and the wisdom of past knowledge guiding future survival.
Elaine plans to continue this project into 2027, inspired by the coastlines and colours
around the Esperance region.
A Wet Year
Wonders
In an age where true history seems to be either forgotten or fudged, as a critical thinker I like to question everything. Are these ‘wondrous’ landmarks really what we are led to believe they are? Perhaps there is truth to the legends that surround. Can we rely on contemporary science to explain the origins of natural phenomena? Or are they part of a much larger narrative, which touches on the question everyone yearns to know the answer to: Why are we really here anyway?
