Series ‘A Wet Year’

This series of works is currently exhibiting as part of ‘Radical Futures: Unearthed’ and Elaine invites us to reflect on survival, sustenance, and how we prepare for an uncertain world.

Elaine considers the idea of “bug-out plans” – and what we might need to endure life in the bush, without many of our modern comforts. Her painted lakes, rich with vintage tones and aerial views, offer a counterpoint to fear: amplifying the land’s abundance, water as divine life-force, and the wisdom of past knowledge guiding future survival.
